Lets hear what you guys got. Lots of people on this board seem to think it's no big deal. Others think it is?

Whats the line 5000, 20000, 500000?

I'll set it at 25,000 by Mar 31, about 20 days from now.

As more testing gets done, the number will go up, but who knows how high.

Washington st. is projecting 64 thousand cases by May.
Seems like a over blown number to me.

If we didn't begin the process mass quarantine it would be in the millions given transmission rates, since we're beginning to take it seriously then it is possible we can keep it below 500k.

Do you think it's worth the economic cost of what we're doing. I see lots of unintended consequences coming from shutting everything down. Those with compromised conditions are usually on fixed incomes living paycheck to paycheck. They can't stock up on shit, and when they cant get basic needs for their conditions like distilled water, or hygiene products, they will be the most vulnerable. Closing schools will affect people who work for basic needed services, like nurses, the trashman ect. School lunch program a lot of people depend on it. I know some here will say fuck those people, but that wont stop whats coming.

I’m thinking we might see close to 300,000 people dead in the United States.

Why?

Do you guys realize Enflameo, redeyenose thenclown, and the rest of these thugs are wrong about everything?

This is a pandemic. Could be possibly 250+ thousands dead from this in the US before it’s all said and done. That’s how wrong these idiots are.

The REPUBLICAN governor of Ohio shut down schools for three weeks and is limiting crowds to 100. Libs don't care, I get it.

The economic disruption wouldn't be so costly if this country didn't embrace all that debt till you die at every level of government, business and individuals. 50 years ago you think this country going into repair mode for a month would be this big a deal? Fuck no bro. It is all that BS that we've railed on forever coming home to roost. We were fragile. The whole world was. Can they can kick 1 more time? We'll see.

Look at transmission rates, lack symptoms, death rates...You either do it the easy way or the hard way.

And for anyone who cares about nothing but partisan politics, the way we're doing it now is gonna put in the rearview mirror a lot quicker (probably not because of aforementioned bubble stuff, but it is the best chance)

Weak cultures and economies are fragile, let that be the lesson. Truth hurts.

I understand it's been hyped but you cited "liberals" don't care about the cost. Well, you have a conservative governor buying into the hype. And the media is doing what it does now with the 24 hour news cycle. I'd rather have a media than not.

I'd rather have a balanced and responsible media.

The number of confirmed cases will depend on the number of testing kits available and administered.

The number of confirmed cases will be far lower than the number of people who actually get it.

I live in the county that has approximately 600,000 people in it, and there are no coronavirus testing kits in my county.

This virus is exposing one of the serious problems with offshoring.

Although American companies label these types of products as theirs, they are manufactured overseas. Yes, mostly in China. We no longer have massive manufacturing capability that you can flip a switch to mobilize like we did in WWII for instance.

I have confidence that the testing kits will be available to almost every healthcare provider within a couple of weeks. Although because of the problem I just outlined I have a less than robust confidence that will be the case.

And, no, I'm not blaming anybody except the unforseen consequences of offshoring our manufacturing.

I do know someone who has railed against this practice and its consequences since he ran for office and has done all he can to get manufacturing back into our country.

Ya, China is a joke. Then again like Trump said, can you even blame them with our prior leadership?

Saudi Arabia too, I said in the other thread we should split that kids head open for the stunt he pulled with OPEC. Hopefully this fiasco brings a return to prominence for the concept of the nation state and national sovereignty.
